Meeting Recap, 3/29

Hey all!

1) There are sign up sheets for Cafe Sketch, Animation III, Computer Animation II & III, and Character Design are in Tom's office currently. So stop by his office and sign up if you're interested in being a part of those classes.

2) The final week of this semester is coming up fast which means the end of the year show is as well! If you have some work you want in it now is the time to start thinking about what pieces you'd like to submit or touch up! We hope to see a lot of pieces from you all.

This week we went to the Illustration Round Table meet up in the Canzani auditorium!

Our very own Alex Alvarado was there to speak about his experiences at CCAD leading all the way up to working at Disney currently. The other guest speakers were Alex LyonGraham ErwinAdam WatkinsErica Steiskal, and AG Ford who were all wonderful.

They spoke about what to look forward to after college, some tips on surviving the life of being in different parts of the industry, and even answered questions after the meeting was over.

If you would like notes from the round table just message a leader and we'll gladly give them to you! See you all next week!

Link of the Week!

The two links this week are both chock full of great media coming out of the industry as well as students hands currently!

This site strives to collect short films that are quote-unquote "the best of the best". They have student work, festival winning shorts, and branded videos to watch and enjoy.

The Animation Archive has concept art book giveaways, environment and character designs for video games and movies in the industry, and numerous resources for animators to utilize.

They're both fantastic sites to browse and I hope you enjoy them!

Meeting Recap, 3/8

Hey guys!

1) Next friday there will not be a collective meeting because Spring Break will finally be here! So make sure to mark your calendars!

2) After Spring Break there will be a round table networking meeting linked with the ISC. It features very well known people in the industry, such as our very own Alex Alvarado who worked on Wreck-It Ralph and is currently working on the next big Disney feature film.

This week we experienced the wonderful world of ZBrush with Allison Josephine!

We learned how to texture/color/render objects made in Maya, use hot keys in ZBrush, and even create creatures using ZSpheres.

If you would like a copy of the ZBrush note sheet that was handed out during the meeting or the notes that were taken just notify a leader and we'll gladly send you the either!

Until then, have a wonderful Spring Break!

Links of the Week

Hey all, it's Link of the Week again, at it's new time.

Similar to my last Link of the Week post, I'm posting a site we really should have posted a long time ago, and is a site everyone should know, if you don't already:

This week I also have a cool site of sound clips from television and movies. It's a good source of stuff for animation and board tests for extra practice:

'til next time!
