Meeting Recap, 1/24

Hey everyone!

Announcements:
1) This coming Friday we will be heading over to see the Oscar Animated Shorts for this year at the Gateway Film Center! The showing starts at 10:30, though if you're unable to come there are other showtimes during the rest of the week which can be found here.

2) Sign Up sheets for the upcoming bake sale during Valentine's Day and so on will be out during our meeting next Friday! So if you'd like to sign up and help sell some baked goodies, that's the time to sign up! :)

We're all excited to welcome you all back to another fantastic year with the CCAD Animation Student Collective! There is so much in store for this semester that we can't wait to show you all! Including movie nights, Animation Jeopardy, professionals talking with us from the industry, networking meetings, a bake sale, and so much more!

We hope you all enjoyed our first meeting of the year eating pizza, hearing about department curriculum changes, and learning about the wonders of augmented reality! Information about getting ahold of stop motion lab equipment was relayed to all of us as well, which was very helpful! It was nice to have our department head, Charlotte Belland, inform us all on augmented reality and how to do it using the website and app Aurasma provides!

It's definitely worth checking out and a lot of fun to use! If you'd like notes from the meeting you can email or ask any of us and we'll gladly get them to you!

See you all next week!

Link of the Week!

This week I wanted to give a shout out to one of my favorite animation studios around today...

http://screen-novelties.com/

Screen Novelties is an animation studio based in LA, and they primarily do stop motion.

They have done a lot of fun things over these past few years, including the stop motion Spongebob Christmas special, the sock parody of the film "Flight" which was shown at last year's Oscars, and a Lego rendition of the Adventure Time intro.

And nothing has been confirmed yet... but there might be another Christmas special in the works based off their latest short/eCard titled "A Krampus Christmas."

If you want to check out more of their work, check out their website and Vimeo posted below :D

Enjoy!
