Link of the Week

This week I'd like to share my favorite place to find fun faces to draw:

I found out about this class last semester from Mr. Kovach. The website is chock-full of mugshots upon mugshots, organized into fun categories like Hawaiian Shirts, Fogeys - here's some of the Funny Faces, and a few drawings I have done in the past:

Also, here's a video with lots of great 2D effects - gunshots, blood, and explosions - viewer discretion advised! You have been warned! I found it awhile back on a website called Stereogum - a music website - every Friday they post "the 5 best videos of the week" (http://stereogum.com/1267632/the-5-best-videos-of-the-week-70/franchises/straight-to-video), which are fun to look through!

Link's of the Week

This weeks links are resources that deal with the body! These are great for sketching out, using for reference with 2D or 3D animation, and resolving figure pose conflicts.

Bodies in Motion is a reference library of over 1,000 images of dynamic poses. Each action was captured at 10-frames-per-second allowing for any artist to resolve issues they may have with a certain pose. All of the poses are perfect for sketching and can be used for many other needs dealing with poses.

There are actually over 30,000 images shot from different angles with varying body types, however they can only be seen if you're a subscriber to the site.

Don't let the title fool you, this site is perfect for figuring out certain muscle groups and planes of the body. There is great reference for different angles of body parts such as the ears, mouth, hands, and feet as well.

Both offer plenty of references of the body that I hope you all enjoy!

Hey guys!

As I'm sure many of you know, this week we were visited by the amazing Chris Oatley!

He gave a demo on drawing hair in Photoshop and had great feedback to offer everyone afterwards concerning their artwork!! Strong points he made were that everyone should show their passion, be inspired, and never stop drawing.

If you weren't able to attend Friday and would like a copy of our notes from the meeting feel free to e-mail a leader and let them know!

See you next Friday!

Link of the Week

This week's Link is a treasure trove of storyboarding and animation resources.

The Seven Camels blog is run by animator and story artist Mark Kennedy, who most recently worked on the story teams of Disney's Wreck-It Ralph and Bolt. Mark posts lots of helpful resources that he's either come across or created himself, including tips on layout and story.

Take an afternoon to read through this blog and soak up the knowledge. Hope you like it!

Link of the Week!

This week's Link of the Week is an awesome resource for 3D people, but even 2D people can find some awesome uses for it!

This site is the king of all blueprints. It has pretty much every car, tank, ship, or other random object you could imagine. It is a wonderful resource if you need reference photos.

Not all the references are free, but they still have a very large amount that are!

They even have some really random/awesome ones. Like.... this Jedi Starfighter!

Enjoy the awesome blueprintness!
Till next time!
